Bennetts Associates is committed to reducing embodied carbon in building construction, especially within the science sector where emissions are typically high. In collaboration with Reef + Partners, Volker Fitzpatrick, and HG Matthews, the firm led a groundbreaking initiative at Tribeca, London’s largest life-sciences campus. They developed low-carbon earth blocks using excavated London clay, replacing traditional concrete blocks. These unfired, air-dried earth blocks saved over 7 tonnes of carbon in just one phase, with potential for even greater impact in future phases. Through rigorous testing and innovation, this project exemplifies scalable, sustainable construction and meaningful climate action within high-performance building environments
